Apparently, Varun Tej was supposed to be launched under the direction of Srikanth Addala (Kotha Bangaru Lokam, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu fame) with the project 'Gollabhama'. All of a sudden, Puri's name has surfaced and Chiru's family has taken this call after much thought about the debut.
Puri scored decent marks with Chirutha despite the huge pressure of launching Chiru's son Ram Charan. The same factor has worked in the favor of this ace filmmaker and Ashwini Dutt who has a good track record of launching star kids too voted for this crazy director.
