Rakul Preet Singh lit up Instagram with her latest post, captioned:

"In my barbie land 💕". In the picture, Rakul looks cheerful and full of charm as she poses against a bubblegum pink backdrop. She is dressed in a hot pink halter dress and chunky transparent bangles and golden hoop earrings.

Rakul Preet Singh often talks about how being an Army kid shaped her into the person she is today. Her father, Col (Veteran) Kulvinder Singh, served in the Regiment of Artillery. On Father’s Day, Rakul shared her childhood memories of growing up in cantonment areas. “I grew up in the cantonment, so everyone you know is an Army kid. You think that’s a way of life, you don’t know any better as a kid. Everyone’s father is visiting for a month or a weekend. There would be field postings and peace postings. You become so strong emotionally,” she said.

She also remembered the times when her father was posted far away. “There were no mobile phones in the 1990s, we used to talk to dad on trunk calls. When he was stationed in the North East around 1999 due to disturbances at the border, a mediator would pass on our message to him ‘sahab bacche chocolates laane ko bol rahe hain’, we could hear dad’s reply but he couldn’t hear us. Today, this helps me in a way that trolls don’t affect me. I have seen such strong parents.”

Her father, Col Singh, shared his pride and love for Rakul, saying, “Rakul was the first girl child in our family. Any family is incomplete without a daughter.”
