Maharashtra Government have no records pertaining to Salman Khan's 2002 hit-and-run case.

Mansoor Darvesh sought complete information regarding the hit-and-run case (including expenditure government has to bear since 2002, list of lawyers, public prosecutors and many more) by filing an RTI query. He was informed all the files of Salman Khan's case were burnt in fire that engulfed Government headquarters Mantralaya located in South Mumbai. Except for the appointment of Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat in September last year and his package of Rs 6,000 per each hearing, Maharashtra Government don't have any other information regarding the sensational case.

Unfortunately, Officials of Maharashtra Government didn't keep their promise of reconstructing the destroyed files till now.

Salman Khan's SUV ran over the people sleeping on the footpath, killing one and injuring four others on September 28th, 2002. While the Sessions Court declared his as convict and sentenced to 5 years in prison, Bombay High Court suspended the sentence and granted bail.
