Sensing that police will catch him, a passenger flushed gold biscuits weighing 7 kg in the toilet at Shamshabad airport on Tuesday. While gold biscuits weighing 5 kg were later recovered by the authorities, the remaining are believed to have been flushed away.

According to reports, the passenger, resident of Kannur district, Kerala was detained by Customs, who were working on a tip off, at the immigration point. During the interrogation, he confessed that he dumped 7 kg gold in the toilet.

Initially, he feigned innocence but eventually led them to the toilet after sustained interrogation. Nearly 50 kg gold seized from 75 passengers smuggling it in the last five months.

So irresistible is the allure of gold, that it makes people do crazy things like trying to hide the yellow metal in their shoe soles, inner wear, abdomen and even the rectum. These were some of the ingenious way of smuggling it out of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad.
