Maharastra Tops, AP occupies 3rd Spot!

Maharashtra topped the list of the state where most number of cases of rape and assault on women have been recorded.
Total No. of Cases of Rape & Assault on Women in India (2014): 1,17,035
1) Maharashtra - 13,827 cases
2) Madhya Pradesh - 13, 323 cases
3) Andhra Pradesh - 13,267 cases
Speaking in Lok Sabha, Union minister of women and child development Maneka Gandhi confirmed the rise is rape and assault cases in the past 1 year. She claimed safety of women is of utmost priority to the NDA Government and necessary measures have been taken to deal the alarming situation.
