Deputy CM opposes Vijayawada as AP Capital

At the time when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues have been indicating that the new capital will be built between Vijayawada and Guntur districts, AP Deputy CM KE Krishna Murthy raises objection to this proposal citing it would be congested as only 500 acres of Government land is available in this area.

KE Krishna Murthy found fault with Minister Narayana for creating confusion among the people and also paving way for rise in land prices with his statements. He opined people will forget about capital if smart cities were a reality. He suggested Government to make Vijayawada a temporary capital and consider some other area as permanent capital.

The senior TDP leader made it clear Kurnool needn't be made capital and the people demanding capital status for the district were very less. He informed that 13 districts of AP have 32,000 acres Government land.
