AP New Capital gets a NAME!
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 March 2015 8:43 AM GMTAndhra Pradesh Government is seriously considering naming the new capital as Amaravathi.
Amaravathi which is located on the banks of Krishna river is just around 35 km away from Vijayawada and Guntur. The temple town was named after Amareswara Swamy Temple which is one of the Pancharamas and its near to Dharanikota which happens to be the seat of power during the Satavahana rule (2nd Century BCE, 3rd Century BCE). It used to be the capital of Andhra dynasties until the Mogul's conquered and subsequent British rule.
Although there were proposals of Naming the New Capital after Telugus Pride late NTR, State Government preferred Amaravati expecting that it will remain unopposed by all the sections of the people. An official announcement will be made soon after Chandrababu Naidu's return from Singapore tour.
