25 Years for Chiranjeevi's classic

Chiranjeevi's evergreen classic Rudraveena has completed 25 Years Today. The film was released on March 4th, 1988.
Rudraveena is a take on fight between social practices like castiesm & untouchability, and modern society. The films stars Chiranjeevi, Gemini Ganeshan, Shobana, Brahmanandam and few other noted artistes. Balachander has wield the megaphone and music is by Ilayaraja. Nagababu produced this classic under his home banner 'Anjana Productions'.
Although the Box Office result of Rudraveena wasn't encouraging, few films should been seen beyond the collections and this hard-hitting movie is one of those. However, the film swept most of the major Awards for that year. The film bagged three National awards - Chiranjeevi (Best Actor - Jury), Ilayaraja (Best Music Director) and SP Balu (Best Male Playback Singer). It also won Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. Including Best Actor for Chiru, Rudraveena bagged four Nandi Awards. Wish few more meaningful films will be made in Tollywood in the near future!
