Actress Wamiqa Gabbi recently opened up about a very special moment in her career. In an exclusive chat, she revealed how filmmaker Imtiaz Ali sent her a heartfelt voice message just before the release of her latest film Bhool Chuk Maaf. Wamiqa shared that the message ended with the words, “Well done Wamiqa,” which deeply touched her. She said it meant a lot to her, especially since Imtiaz didn’t have to do it, but he still made the effort.
Wamiqa plays the role of Titli in Bhool Chuk Maaf, opposite Rajkummar Rao. The film is a time-loop comedy set in Banaras, where Rajkummar’s character keeps reliving his haldi ceremony day. Wamiqa’s character is a spirited, small-town girl. It is her first time doing comedy on screen, and she found the experience exciting and challenging.
What makes this movie even more special for Wamiqa is the end-credit song, Chor Bazaari Phir Se. It is a remix of the original track from Love Aaj Kal, where Wamiqa was a background dancer many years ago. She feels her life has come full circle.
Wamiqa also said she is realizing the importance of this moment through her friends’ and family’s reactions. Messages from close ones and her father’s support make her feel proud and emotional. She called the experience “overwhelming” and is thankful for working with good people and being part of a big film.
