Born on 12 April 1997 in Saharsa, Bihar, Ulka Gupta began her career as a child artist. She first appeared in Resham Dankh and gained early recognition as Savri in Saat Phere. Her breakthrough came as young Rani Lakshmibai (Manu) in the popular Zee TV series Jhansi Ki Rani (2009–2011), a role that made her a household name.

She made her film debut in the Telugu movie Andhra Pori (2015) as the lead, followed by the role of young Rudhrama Devi in Rudhramadevi (2015). In Hindi cinema, she featured in Traffic (2016), Mr. Kabaadi (2017), a cameo in Simmba (2018), and the Marathi film Odh.
