Born on 16 August 1989 in Nainital, Uttarakhand, Sonam began as a model and Femina Miss India 2012 contestant. She made her acting debut in the 2013 Punjabi film Best of Luck. Her breakthrough came with the National Award-winning Punjab 1984 (2014), establishing her as a leading lady in Punjabi cinema.

She went on to deliver hits such as Nikka Zaildar (2016) and its sequels, Sardaar Ji 2 (2016), Manje Bistre (2017), Carry On Jatta 2 (2018), Ardab Mutiyaran (2019, for which she won Best Actress at the PTC Punjabi Film Awards), Honsla Rakh (2021), Carry On Jatta 3 (2023), and Kudi Haryane Val Di (2024). She also appeared in Tamil (Kappal, 2014) and Telugu (Aatadukundam Raa, 2016) films, plus a special appearance in Bollywood’s Bala (2019) and Street Dancer 3D (2020).

In 2025, she expanded into Hindi cinema with Housefull 5, Baaghi 4, and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. Ongoing projects include Nikka Zaildar 4, Border 2 (2026), and the Punjabi comedy Pitt Siyapa. From Punjabi stardom to Bollywood, Sonam continues to shine with versatility and strong screen presence.
