Born on August 4, 1981, in Makrana, Rajasthan, Shama trained at Roshan Taneja School of Acting. She made her film debut at 16 in Prem Aggan (1998), followed by a supporting role in Mann (1999) opposite Aamir Khan.

She rose to fame with the popular TV series Yeh Meri Life Hai (2003–2005), playing Pooja Mehta and earning multiple awards, including Indian Television Academy Awards for Best Debut and GR8! Face of the Year. Other film credits include Ansh: The Deadly Part (2002), Dhoom Dadakka (2008), and Bypass Road (2019). She also appeared in the web series Maaya: Slave of Her Desires (2017) and the children’s show Baal Veer.

In recent years, she has taken a selective approach to projects while focusing on personal life and occasional creative work.
