In Arjun Reddy, she played a young medical student opposite Vijay Deverakonda. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film was known for its intense story but also faced criticism for promoting toxic masculinity. When asked if she would accept the same role now, Shalini said, "Would I completely say no to it? No, as I was playing a character... I would have played it with much more conviction and much more understanding... I would do it differently and maybe have different conversations with my director, to be honest."
