Sanya Malhotra was recently seen in the video for the song Jinguchaa from Mani Ratnam’s much-awaited gangster drama Thug Life. Her appearance with Tamil star Simbu created quite a buzz. While fans were excited to see her, director Mani Ratnam later confirmed that Sanya only makes a guest appearance in the film and does not have a leading role.

He shared this in an interview with Tamil magazine Vikatan, mentioning that her role adds regional authenticity to the story.

According to Mani Ratnam, parts of Thug Life take place in Delhi, so the team wanted someone who could represent that region. “They needed a North Indian face for the Delhi portions of the story,” he said. “We wanted that Delhi flavour, and Sanya was perfect for it.” He also described her as a friendly and easy person to work with.
