Born on April 28, 1987, in Chennai to Telugu and Malayali parents, Samantha began her career as a model before making her acting debut in 2010 with Gautham Vasudev Menon’s romantic drama Ye Maaya Chesave (Telugu) / Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (Tamil cameo). Her portrayal of Jessie earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South.

She rose to stardom with critically acclaimed performances in Eega (2012), Neethaane En Ponvasantham (2012), Theri (2016), Mersal (2017), Rangasthalam (2018), and the biographical Mahanati (2018). Known for her versatility, dance prowess, and emotional depth, she has delivered multiple blockbusters across Telugu and Tamil cinema and won four Filmfare Awards.

Samantha has ventured into production with her banner Tralala Moving Pictures. Her recent and ongoing projects include the Netflix series Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom (with Aditya Roy Kapur) and the much-awaited Telugu family drama Maa Inti Bangaaram, which she is producing and starring in. Directed by B.V. Nandini Reddy, the film is slated for a worldwide release on May 15, 2026. She is also linked to projects like Maduravada with Karthi.
