Ragini Dwivedi made her acting debut in 2009 with the Kannada film Ee Shathamaanada Veera Madakari, an action-comedy that was a remake of the Telugu film Vikramarkudu. She starred alongside Sudeep, and the movie turned out to be a major box-office hit. In the same year, she appeared in a smaller role in the film Gokula.
In 2010, Ragini featured in five films, including her Malayalam debut Kandhahar.
Her career took a significant turn in 2011 with the action-packed film Kempegowda, where she once again starred alongside Sudeep. This role earned her a nomination for Best Female Lead at the South Filmfare Awards. That year also saw her in comedic roles, particularly in Kalla Malla Sulla and Kaanchaana. The song "Thuppa Beku Thuppa" from Kalla Malla Sulla featuring Ragini became a massive hit and one of the most popular tracks of the year.
