Born on December 17, 2000, in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Pratibha Ranta began her journey as a theatre artist and dancer before moving to Mumbai. She made her acting debut on television with the Zee TV soap opera Qurbaan Hua (2020�2021) as Chahat. Her film debut and breakthrough came in 2024 with Kiran Rao's critically acclaimed comedy-drama Laapataa Ladies (also known as Lost Ladies), where she played the dual role of Jaya/Pushpa, earning widespread praise, the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress, and IIFA Star Debut of the Year � Female. She also appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (2024) as Shama.
Her career surged with the 2026 Netflix psychological thriller Accused, directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, co-starring Konkona Sen Sharma, where she portrayed Dr. Meera Mishra in a bold, challenging role exploring complex themes.
