She began as a model before making her acting debut with the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Virattu / Dega (2014). Her breakthrough came with the Telugu period drama Kanche (2015) opposite Varun Tej, earning her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South.

She has appeared in films like Nakshatram (2017), Achari America Yatra (2018), and the blockbuster Akhanda (2021) opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna. Pragya made her Hindi debut with Titoo MBA (2014) and featured in Khel Khel Mein (2024). Recent highlights include Daaku Maharaaj (2025).

Known for her versatility in Telugu cinema, she continues to balance commercial entertainers with strong performances. Pragya remains a prominent name in South Indian films with several projects in development.
