Directed by Ram Godhal, the film is produced under the banner of WE Arts by Harish Nalla and is set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 11. During a recent media interaction, Malavika shared her excitement about her role and the film's journey.
When asked how she bagged this role, Malavika revealed, "I was selected as the heroine for this film after the director Ram watched my performance in the Malayalam movie Jo. He was impressed and decided I was the right fit for the role in O Bhama Ayyo Rama. As soon as I heard the story, I liked it immediately."
"It's hard to explain in just one line," Malavika admitted. "The character I am portraying in this film is very different from what I have done before. While I have mostly played simple village girl roles in the past, this time my character is more modern, hyper, and full of attitude. It's a role that gives me a chance to explore a variety of expressions, and that's something every actor looks forward to."
Talking about her preparation, Malavika explained, "I didn’t really do any specific homework or prep work for this role. The character of Satyabhama is unlike anything I’ve ever played before. Even though I couldn't speak Telugu fluently, I understood the essence of the language and acted accordingly."
Malavika shared her positive experience of working in Telugu. "It was a really happy experience. The Telugu technicians and artists are highly professional, and I felt very comfortable on set. Language wasn’t much of a problem for me. I’ve seen dubbed films from Tamil to Telugu before, so I had a basic understanding. And when I watched Hit-3 recently, it gave me even more confidence."
Malavika revealed an interesting challenge she faced during the shoot: "In this movie, I had to shoot a swimming scene, even though I didn’t know swimming at the time. I was nervous, but I didn't want any delay in the shoot, so I went ahead and faced my fear to get the scene done."
"I love playing challenging roles," Malavika said with enthusiasm. "I don't want to repeat the same kind of character in every film. It would not only bore me but also the audience. I enjoy the idea of showcasing versatility in my roles."
Malavika spoke highly of the directors, saying, "It was wonderful working with great people like Harish Shankar and Maruthi. They are highly professional and made me feel comfortable on set."
When asked about her co-star Suhas, she responded, "Suhas is a very nice person. He is a hard worker and focuses solely on the film while on set. He’s not a talkative person, but when he speaks, it's always about the film. It was an amazing experience working with him."
"Though love scenes are common in many films, the ones in this movie feel refreshing and new," Malavika said. "The chemistry between the characters is portrayed in a very unique way, and I’m sure the audience will enjoy and be entertained by it."
"Being part of O Bhama Ayyo Rama and portraying the character of Satyabhama feels like a stroke of luck. I’m truly grateful for this opportunity, and I am excited for everyone to see it," Malavika expressed.
Also when asked about whether she is fine to do glamorous roles, she said, "I don’t have any specific rules about glamorous roles. If the role is something I’m comfortable with and the story is good, I’ll do it. But if I don’t feel right about a character, I won’t do it,"
