Jyothi Rai (also known as Jyoti Poorvaj), born in Madikeri, Karnataka, began her career in Kannada television around 2007. She gained popularity through serials such as Jogula (as Devaki), Kinnari, and Mooru Gantu. Her breakthrough came with the Telugu serial Guppedantha Manasu, where she portrayed the strong character Jagathi, earning a wide fan base.
She made her film debut in the Tulu drama Madipu (2017). Subsequent roles include supporting parts in Kannada films like Dia (2020), 99 (2019), Supplier Shankara (2024 as Sarala), 5D (2024), and Nice Road (2024).
Ongoing and upcoming projects include the sci-fi action thriller KillR (also called Killer: Dream Girl, 2026), directed by and co-starring her husband Poorvaaj, along with the Kannada film Halka Don (2026) and A Masterpiece. This serene yet striking image reflects her transition from television success to bold cinematic roles.
