Bollywood Star Janhvi Kapoor Makes Elegant Cannes Debut

Janhvi Kapoor made her first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025 wearing a dress designed by Tarun Tahiliani. The gown was made from a soft rose coloured fabric with a shiny metallic finish. It featured a full skirt and a delicate veil over her hair, giving her a graceful and elegant look. This dress was different from her usual glamorous style filled with sequins and designs.

The dress was carefully crafted using traditional Indian handwoven fabric from Benaras. The texture was created by a special hand crushing method. Janhvi chose to wear this Indian designer dress because she wanted to highlight the talent of Indian fashion on the world stage. She feels most comfortable and confident in Indian clothes especially when representing her country internationally.

Janhvi attended Cannes to promote her new film, Homebound which tells the story of two friends from a small Indian village who become police officers. Although the story is set in India, it talks about social issues that people face everywhere. Janhvi said the film is important because it makes people think about fairness and human nature.

She trusted her cousin and stylist Rhea Kapoor to help design the look that reflected a more serious side of her, suitable for such a prestigious event. Janhvi was excited to be part of Cannes saying it was a great chance to meet artists she admires and to bring attention to her film.
