The image is part of a series that Alia posted from the premiere of the restored version of Umrao Jaan, a 1981 classic starring Rekha. Alia wore a custom-made saree by Tarun Tahiliani for the event, which was styled by Rhea Kapoor. She aimed to recreate the essence of Rekha’s legendary character, Chandni, from Silsila which is a movie that released the same year as Umrao Jaan. Alia kept her look simple yet expressive, matching the soft tone of the film and its cultural legacy. With subtle makeup and a bindi, she brought a quiet grace to the tribute.

Earlier Alia wowed audiences with her saree choices in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, but this latest look was more than just fashion. It was a personal homage.
