Born on July 26, 1988, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, to a family with her father R.K. Puri (a retired assistant commissioner), Akanksha started as a model and former Kingfisher Airlines cabin crew before transitioning to acting. Her movie debut was in Tamil cinema with the action-comedy Alex Pandian (2013) opposite Karthi. She expanded to Malayalam with Praise the Lord (2014), Kannada with Lodde (2015), and made her Bollywood entry in Madhur Bhandarkar's Calendar Girls (2015) as Nandita Menon. She gained widespread fame portraying Goddess Parvati/AdiParashakti in the long-running mythological series Vighnaharta Ganesh (2017–2020). Other highlights include Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander (2015), Action (2019), Bhojpuri film Rajaram (2024), and the crime thriller So Long Valley (2025) as Riya.
Akanksha has also shone in OTT/web series like Inspector Avinash (2023), Honey Trap Squad (2023), Dons & Darlings (2024–2025), Hasratein (2025), and Rose Garden (2025). Recent buzz includes Bhojpuri collaborations with Khesari Lal Yadav in projects like Ahiran and teased works such as Kamar 28, plus upcoming series like Shringarika (2025–) and Rishtey (2025). She remains active in music videos, events, and fashion, balancing pan-Indian films, TV, and digital platforms.
