After an all-party meet on Telangana Dec 28, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi Thursday reviewed the vexed issue with senior leaders, said party sources.

According to Congress sources, Gandhi held three separate meetings with senior leaders including Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, general secretary Digvijaya Singh and her political secretary Ahmed Patel.

Azad is also in charge of the party's affairs in Andhra Pradesh, which will have to be divided if the demand for a separate Telangana state is agreed to.

After the all-party meet, Shinde had said a decision on Telangana will be taken within a month.

The all-party meeting had been called to pacify the Congress MPs from Andhra Pradesh, who want the party to take a decision in the matter without any further delay.

A group of Andhra Pradesh ministers from the Telangana region had called on President Pranab Mukherjee in Hyderabad Tuesday and sought his intervention for immediately carving out a separate state.

Before the all-party meet, Azad had held consultations with the party leaders from Andhra Pradesh on the issue.
