Movie Review: PILLA NUVVULENI JEEVITHAM (By Hapra)

Mega ‘menalludu’ is finally able to come to theatres with his second flick ‘Pilla Nuvvuleni Jeevitham’ while his first movie is tangled in financial crisis. For those catch songs, his dance stops and body language, the flick garnered enough hype. Let us see if it lives up to it or not!
The CONTENT
Two political rivals of same party, Prabhakar (Prakash Raj) and Sayaji Shinde fight for CM chair as incumbent CM resigns. At the same time a TV channel journalist Shafi (Shafi) exposes deeds of Sayaji Shinde. Then a police SP summons notorious rowdy Maisamma (Jagapathi Babu) to kill Shafi and his family. Parallel with this story, Srinu (Sai Dharam Tej), an orphan from Palakol tries all his ways to reach Maisamma only to award a killing contract. Srinu starts narrating his story and about Siri (Regina). What does he explains and what is the link between politicians, Maisamma, Srinu and Siri. Watch it on big screen.
The EFFORT :
On-Screen:
Sai Dharam Tej is good for a debutant, but hasn’t come up with any mind blowing performances. He tried his best to emote well, but somehow he has fallen back by miles. Though his dances are okay, his screen presence is yet to improve. Mega fans may like it, but others will see him only as struggling actor with good lineup of films.
Regina’s role is quite limited and she has nothing to do except looking beautifully in girl-next-door looks. In a fantasy scene, she blows minds with her ravishing skin show, but that’s the only scene in the film where she added spiciness.
Jagapathi Babu looks rugged, but performance wise he is like the same old Babu who entertained audiences with comedy movies where he is the lead. More than ruggedness, he preferred comedy this time. Prakash Raj and Sayaji Shinde are usual, while other actors did their part.
Raghu Babu’s comedy timing and JP’s comic presence brought the house down couple of times. Satya Krishnan’s innocent act as a Muslim lady is hilarious. All others are quite routine.
Off-Screen:
AS Ravikumar Chowdary wants to bounce back with a stunning flick, but it could be guessed right from first frame that he has cooked a routine fare. Enough ammunition is not present inside the story to hold nerve of audiences. At the same time, director failed to achieve some tight performances from his actors.
Background Music scored by Anup Rubens is pleasant, but sometimes it went habitual with noting exciting. Though songs are good, visual kick is not omnipresent. Choreography by Johny and Raghu is interesting, but they haven’t come up with any new steps that could shake the masses. Dialogues written by Diamond Ratnam are entertaining at times, as he excelled in writing slapstick comedy moments.

BREAKDOWN:
Choosing right directors always matters for a hero with star-background. Sai Dharam Tej hasn’t made a great choice if we have to generalize now. Picking up a story that has some shades of past flick ‘Maska’, Sai Dharam tried his hand at everything in a single flick. For a newcomer, such flicks will become show reels but not huge box office hits.
Kick starting the movie with huge intensity, director introduced two rival politicians and has setup a theme. (This immediately connects many to Maska movie). But at a time when we are expecting a heavy and mind blowing introduction of hero, he simply shows his face through splashes of water and a song starts. This will not help with the masses in B & C centers. Rather taking the plot to next level, patience is tested for a while with clichéd comedy. In the mean time, interval arrives and that is one bang people may love it. But Sai Dharam and Jagapathi Babu failed to bring heavy impact to otherwise simple scene. Second half turns quite predictable as cinema falls into the trap of logic less narration. However the slapstick comedy entertains you throughout.
To watch a new hero for the first time and to laugh now and then with a popcorn bucket in hand, Pilla Nuvvuleni Jeevitham is nice. But if one expects something like a Charan and Bunny provided with the ‘mega’ background of Sai Dharam Tej, then disappointment is on cards. We can watch it once in free time. Run at box office depends on how masses receive the flick.
The FINISHING Line: Not a mind-blowing debut for mega hero.
