Cinematographer-turned-Director KV Anand is an ardent fan of Kamal Haasan to whose films he worked as an assistant cinematographer in the past.

KV Anand: "In Tamil, Directors are divided either by Balachander school or Bharathiraja school. But, We (Cinematographer PC Sriram assistants) proudly claim we are from Kamal Haasan's school. We always use his works as a reference, even if its a kissing scene we would be observing how he has done it - gently or wild or sophisticated kiss!".

The director even recollects a particle scenes in the super hit flick 'Kshatreya Putrudu' to say how Kamal Haasan prepares for the scenes he has to enact. For the death scene of Shivaji Ganesan, There was a requirement of 3,000 junior artistes in the movie. But the production team could manage only 1,000 junior artiste on the day of shoot. Kamal, however, stressed he wants exactly 3,000 people for the scene. So the producer cancelled the shoot for the day and made sure 3,000 junior artiste were present for the shoot on the next day. To get into the mood of the scene, Kamal wanted a small background score composed by Ilayaraja. Upon seeing the dead body of his father, He breaks down holding a pillar to support his grief. Everyone on the sets had tears in their eyes watching him and that shows what a great actor he has been.

KV Anand says such moments are timeless and claims to be getting goosebumps while talking about it. Hats of Kamal Haasan and thanks to KV for sharing this untold secret!
