A bronze statue of Kakatiya Dynasty ruler Rani Rudrama Devi is ready for installation at the historic village of Chandupatla in Nakrekal mandal. It was carved by Sampath Kumar Reddy who hails from Warangal and currently the construction of concrete base is under way at the village to erect the statue.
Historians discovered an inscription of Rudramadevi (confirming her death date as Novermber 29th, 1289 AD) in Chandupatla village two decades ago.
Former district Collector of Nalgonda N Muktheswar Rao and State Bank of Hyderabad's , Assistant General Manager Hare Krishna Nanda voluntarily donated money for erecting the statue of Rudramadevi at the entrance of the village.
Vivekananda Yuvajana Mandali have plans to invite Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to unveil the statue which has got a historical importance. Villagers were hopeful that KCR will keep his promise of developing Chandupatla as a tourist spot by granting sufficient funds.
