Did KCR copy AP Governments Plan?
X
We are aware of Andhra Pradesh Government's plans to transform Amaravati, the proposed new capital, into a major destination for Buddhists. Now, KCR decided to do something similar.

Telangana Government wishes to develop the Buddhist sites of Nagarjunasagar and its surrounding areas on the lines of Bodh Gaya. A Buddha Vanam in the Sri Parvatham area facing the Reservoir is on the top priority list. An independent authority will be constituted for the development of Buddha Vanam and a special officer will be on duty to ensure rapid development.

The Buddha Vanam project covers 274 acres and State Government is willing to offer few more acres till the reservoir if required. KCR directed officials to identify a location suitable for erecting a 27-foot statue of Buddha presented by the Sri Lanka Government for the project. He made it clear Buddha Vanam have to emerge as Buddhist pilgrimage after the completion of the project by attracting religious tourists from across the World.
