Daughter of veteran actor R. Sarathkumar, Varalaxmi made her acting debut with the Tamil film Podaa Podi (2012). She has since delivered powerful performances across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema in both lead and supporting roles, often earning praise for her intense and versatile acting.

Notable films include Sandakozhi 2, Krack, and others. She recently stepped into direction with Saraswathi, where she also stars alongside Prakash Raj and Priyamani. Varalaxmi continues to balance acting with producing and directing, showcasing her multifaceted talent in South Indian cinema. Her latest and ongoing projects reflect her growing influence both in front of and behind the camera.
