Sonam Bajwa made her acting debut in the Punjabi film Best of Luck (2013). She rose to prominence with Punjab 1984 (2014) and went on to become one of the leading actresses in Punjabi cinema with hits like Nikka Zaildar, Sardaar Ji 2, Carry On Jatta 2, Ardab Mutiyaran, Honsla Rakh, and Carry On Jatta 3.

She also worked in Tamil (Kappal), Telugu (Aatadukundam Raa), and made special appearances in Hindi films such as Bala and Street Dancer 3D. In 2025 she expanded into Bollywood with major roles in Housefull 5, Baaghi 4, and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. Upcoming projects include Border 2 and the Punjabi film Pitt Siyapa (2026).
