In this striking Vogue India frame, Sobhita Dhulipala reclines on a red plastic chair, one hand resting on her forehead. She wears an intricately beaded and pearl-embellished black jacket over a matching bralette and a dramatic black-and-silver geometric lehenga. Bold statement earrings and rings complete the look, radiating modern, unapologetic strength.

I want to write about quiet rage, about the colour red, about grief that sits under that rage, about wild women, about modern horrors but I’ll park that for another time. I’ll let this Vogue imagery stay with you, when we were chatting about this cover shoot - the editor, the Vogue team and I.. it was clear that we were plotting to bring to life our collective fantasy about today’s Indian woman - a woman who chooses, on her terms. Revolutionary, when you really think about it. How many are really doing that huh @vogueindia.

The Andhra Pradesh-born actress made her debut in Anurag Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016), earning a Cannes nomination for Best Supporting Performance. She rose to prominence as Tara Khanna in the Amazon series Made in Heaven (2019–2023).

Her diverse filmography includes the Telugu hit Goodachari (2018), Malayalam films Moothon and Kurup, the bilingual Major (2022), Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: I & II, Dev Patel’s Hollywood thriller Monkey Man (2024), and the recent Telugu film Cheekatilo (2026).

Next up is Pa Ranjith’s sci-fi action film Vettuvam (late 2026). Across languages and industries, Sobhita continues choosing complex, independent roles on her own terms.
