Shama Sikander shared a new photo on Instagram, and it made everyone fall in love. In the picture, she stands on a balcony at night, wearing a bright red saree. The city lights shine behind her and the whole frame looks calm and dreamy. Along with the photo, she added a playful caption: “Kya kal kisne is saal ka sabse bada chaand dekha???”

This year, Shama spoke openly on Debina Bonnerjee’s podcast about one of the toughest phases of her life. She shared that she had battled bipolar disorder and deep depression for years. According to her, these emotions did not appear suddenly. They were hidden inside her for a long time. She said she used to become irritated quickly and felt like she was trapped in a world she did not want. In her words, depression made her “numb,” and she started creating a world of pain around herself.

Shama also talked about how she felt disconnected from the entertainment industry. She said she did not like the environment or the selfish behavior she saw around her. These feelings kept growing, and she struggled to find happiness. At one point, everything became too heavy, and she took too many sleeping pills. She said she “didn’t want to live” and thought it was the end.

She remembered being rushed to the hospital. Her hands were tied because, in her unconscious state, she had become violent. When she woke up, she noticed a bucket beside her bed. The doctors had pumped out the poison from her body to save her. She also remembered feeling confused and disappointed to still be alive because she thought escaping life was the only solution.

But that painful moment became the start of her healing. After this incident, Shama decided she needed help. She began therapy, learned about her bipolar disorder, and started understanding her emotions instead of running from them. She admitted that she had never known that psychiatrists could help. Slowly, she worked on her anger, fear, and sadness.
