Sanya Thakur comes from a theatre background. She spent almost four years working in theatre before moving to films. She appeared as a child artist in Super 30. Later, she played a guest role named Chandu in Dil Bekaraar on Disney+ Hotstar. She also acted as the main lead in the MX Player film Disconnect. Sanya worked in music albums too. She appeared with Urvashi Rautela in Ek Diamond Da Haar by Meet Bros. She was also the main lead in a Punjabi album by Gurlej Akhtar and Rajvir Kingra.

Her career includes more than forty advertisements. She worked with brands like Nestle with Vijay Deverakonda, Parachute, Baskin Robbins, Flipkart, Toyota, Ponds Talcum, Lays, and many others. She also did ads for Dot n Key, Waagh Bakri Tea, Trichup in Dubai and Sri Lanka, Body Bare, and Bella Vitta. Recently, she appeared in Spy (2023), a Telugu action spy film directed by Garry BH. The movie starred Nikhil Siddhartha, Iswarya Menon, Abhinav Gomatam, Jisshu Sengupta, and others.
