Daughter of Ashoka Chakra awardee Colonel Vasanth Venugopal and Bharatanatyam dancer Subhashini, Rukmini trained at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts before stepping into films. She made her acting debut in 2019 with the Kannada film Birbal Trilogy and gained wider attention with Sapta Saagaradaache Ello (2023), where her heartfelt performance as Priya won her the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress – Kannada.
Her career soared with strong roles in Baanadariyalli, Bagheera, Bhairathi Ranagal, Telugu debut Appudo Ippudo Eppudo, and Tamil projects like Ace. In 2025, she impressed audiences as Princess Kanakavathi in the pan-Indian hit Kantara: Chapter 1.
Now one of South cinema’s most sought-after talents, Rukmini is all set for bigger stages. She plays Mellisa in Yash’s highly anticipated Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas, slated for a grand release in March 2026. She has also signed a new Kannada project with KVN Productions and continues to draw interest across industries with her versatility and screen presence.
With her blend of classical training, emotional depth, and rising pan-Indian appeal, Rukmini Vasanth is steadily carving a powerful space in Indian cinema.
