Born on December 10, 1994, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, she is the daughter of Colonel Vasanth Venugopal, an Ashoka Chakra recipient martyred in Uri. Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, Rukmini brings depth and natural talent to every role.
She made her film debut in 2019 with the Kannada film Birbal Trilogy (as Jahnvi) and also appeared in the Hindi film Upstarts. Her breakthrough came in 2023 with the critically acclaimed romantic drama Sapta Saagaradaache Ello (Side A & Side B), where her portrayal of Priya opposite Rakshit Shetty won her the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress – Kannada. She followed it up with Baanadariyalli.
In 2024, Rukmini expanded her horizons with Bagheera, Bhairathi Ranagal, and her Telugu debut Appudo Ippudo Eppudo. She entered Tamil cinema in 2025 with Ace (opposite Vijay Sethupathi) and Madharaasi. Her performance as Kanakavathi in Kantara: Chapter 1 further boosted her popularity.
Currently, she has high-profile projects including Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups with Yash, Dragon with Jr NTR, and more, positioning her as one of South India’s most sought-after actresses.
