Born on December 10, 1996, in Bengaluru, Rukmini Vasanth (daughter of late Colonel Vasanth Venugopal) made her Kannada film debut with Birbal Trilogy Case 1: Finding Vajramuni (2019). She earned widespread acclaim and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress – Kannada for her powerful performance in the romantic drama Sapta Saagaradaache Ello (Side A & B, 2023).
Her career gained massive momentum with notable roles in Baanadariyalli, Bagheera, Bhairathi Ranagal, and her Telugu debut Appudo Ippudo Eppudo. In 2025, she marked her Tamil entry with Ace and Madharaasi, and delivered a memorable performance as Kanakavathi in the blockbuster Kantara: Chapter 1.
In 2026, Rukmini is all set for pan-Indian stardom with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups (releasing March 19), where she plays Mellisa opposite Yash in this high-budget bilingual gangster drama. She is also filming the action entertainer Dragon opposite Jr NTR under Prashanth Neel’s direction (expected June 2026 release) and has signed a new Kannada project with KVN Productions directed by Hemanth M. Rao. Rumours also link her to a potential Hindi film debut and other exciting offers.
With her grounded personality, award-winning talent, and rapidly expanding pan-Indian appeal, Rukmini Vasanth continues to shine as one of South cinema’s most promising leading ladies.
