Born Riya Dev Varma on 24 January 1981 in Kolkata, she hails from a legendary film family—daughter of actress Moon Moon Sen and granddaughter of icon Suchitra Sen. She began as a child artist in Vishkanya (1991). Her adult debut came in the Tamil film Taj Mahal (1999), followed by her Hindi breakthrough in the comedy Style (2001).

Notable works include Jhankaar Beats (2003), Shaadi No. 1 (2005), the Malayalam hit Ananthabhadram (2005), and the Bengali film Noukadubi (2011). She has appeared in over 45 films across multiple languages and more recently in web series such as Bekaaboo (2023), Call Me Bae (2024), and Ziddi Ishq (2025).

In recent years, Riya has expanded into DJing as Riyaa Senn, performing Bolly-tech sets for global audiences, while continuing selective acting projects including Highway 905. Her career remains a blend of classic cinema roots and modern reinvention.
