Born on January 12, 1991, in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Pragya graduated from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, before pursuing modeling and acting. She made her acting debut in 2014 with the Tamil film Virattu (and Hindi film Titoo MBA). Her breakthrough came with the Telugu period drama Kanche (2015), where her performance as Seeta Devi earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South and SIIMA Award.

She built a solid career in Telugu cinema with films like Akhanda (2021) opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna, which became one of her biggest commercial successes. Recent highlights include a strong role in the Hindi ensemble comedy Khel Khel Mein (2024) and the 2025 hit Daaku Maharaaj (also with Balakrishna) as Kaveri.
