Poonam Bajwa was born in a Punjabi family in Mumbai. Her parents are Amarjit Singh Bajwa and Jayalakshmi. She was born on April 5, 1985. Her father worked as a naval officer. Though she crossed 40, Poonam still lives a single life. She acts in films that interest her. Otherwise, she spends time with family. She has a sister named Deepika Bajwa. She won the Miss Pune title in 2005. That helped her step into the Telugu film industry.
