Born on August 13, 1996, in Mangalore, Karnataka, Payal began her career as a model before entering films. She made her acting debut in the 2017 Kannada crime drama Bengaluru Underworld, directed by P.N. Satya, opposite Adhitya Singh. She gained wider recognition with the 2019 Kannada psychological thriller Bhinna, directed by Adarsh Eshwarappa. The film was critically acclaimed, winning multiple awards including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in the regional category and Best Regional Film at the Madrid Film Festival.

Payal has worked across Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil industries. Her notable Telugu films include Ala Ninnu Cheri (2023), Prasanna Vadanam (2024), and Chaurya Paatam. She also appeared in the Tamil web series Singapenne on ZEE5.

Currently, she is receiving appreciation for her emotional role as Bujjamma in the Telugu rural romantic comedy-drama Papam Prathap, which released on April 17, 2026. The film stars Thiruveer as Prathap and explores themes of love, heartbreak, and redemption in a village setting.
