Her father, Sam Melton, has German and Scottish roots, while her mother Preity Singh is of Indian Punjabi origin. Parvathi also has a younger sister named Ariana Sitara Melton. Apart from acting, she trained in Bharatanatyam dance and was also a professional figure skater during her early years.

Her journey into the entertainment world started when she won the Miss Teen India Bay Area title in 2004. Later, she also won the Miss India Le Visage USA pageant in 2005. These achievements helped her gain attention in modeling and entertainment circles.

Parvathi made her acting debut with the Telugu film Vennela in 2005 alongside actor Raja. The film became a success and introduced her to Telugu audiences.
