Rashmika Mandanna To Play M.S. Subbulakshmi In New Biopic

The highly anticipated biopic on legendary Carnatic vocalist and Bharat Ratna M.S. Subbulakshmi was officially launched on September 16, 2026, at The Music Academy in Chennai, coinciding with her 110th birth anniversary.
Titled MS – A Legacy On Screen, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna in the lead role as the iconic singer. In one of the event photos, Rashmika is seen seated in a traditional blue silk saree with jasmine flowers in her hair, attentively watching the proceedings alongside other dignitaries.
Tribute moment outdoors under the Geetha Arts banner, where a framed portrait of M.S. Subbulakshmi, adorned with a floral garland, is displayed with flower petals offered in reverence.
Veteran actor and parliamentarian Kamal Haasan graced the occasion as the chief guest. The project is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri (Jersey, Kingdom), with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. It is jointly produced by Allu Aravind’s Geetha Arts, Rockline Venkatesh’s Rockline Entertainment, and Bunny Vasu’s Bunny Vas Works.
The launch celebrated Subbulakshmi’s enduring musical legacy, which continues to inspire generations across India and beyond. The Indian Choral Ensemble also performed her classic compositions during the event.
