Born on 11 February 1989 in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, Mimi began as a model and Femina Miss India participant before entering acting. She debuted on television in Champion (2008) and rose to fame as Sohini (“Pupe”) in the popular serial Gaaner Oparey (2010–11).
Her film debut came in 2012 with Bapi Bari Jaa, playing Dola. She quickly followed with a breakthrough in Raj Chakraborty’s Bojhena Shey Bojhena. Over the years she has starred in successful Bengali films across genres, including Proloy, Yoddha: The Warrior, Shudhu Tomari Jonyo, Posto, Dracula Sir, Raktabeej (as the strong SP Sanjukta Mitra), and the Hindi film Shastry Viruddh Shastry.
Recent releases include Alaap, Palasher Biye, Toofan (2024), and Raktabeej 2 (2025). Ongoing and upcoming projects feature Bhanupriya Bhooter Hotel, Emperor vs Sarat Chandra, the Hindi Netflix film Hum Hindustani, the web series Queens, and a new thriller Tandav reuniting her with director Raj Chakraborty. After a stint as Member of Parliament (2019–2024), Mimi continues to balance acting with her signature blend of grace and versatility.
