Born in Delhi to a Malayali family, Malavika began her acting career as a teenager. She made her film debut with supporting roles in Malayalam cinema before gaining recognition with Black Butterfly (2013). Her breakthrough came with the Tamil film Cuckoo (2014), where her powerful performance as a blind girl won her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress and several other accolades.

She made her Telugu debut with Yevade Subramanyam (2015) opposite Nani and has since delivered memorable performances in films like Kalyana Vaibhogame, Mahanati, Taxiwaala, and Anni Manchi Sakunamule. In 2024, she appeared in the pan-Indian blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD.

Malavika’s upcoming projects include the high-octane Telugu action film Biker opposite Sharwanand (releasing April 2026) and the Malayalam film Pocket Lover (December 2026).
