Nayanthara, fondly called the Lady Superstar of South Indian cinema, remains a force of elegance and power, as beautifully captured in this striking black-and-white portrait that highlights her poised intensity and timeless appeal.

Born Diana Mariam Kurian on November 18, 1984, she stepped into films with her Malayalam debut Manassinakkare (2003), directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. The family drama became a hit and opened doors across industries. She made her Tamil entry with Ayya (2005) and Telugu debut with Lakshmi (2006). Early successes included Chandramukhi (2005) opposite Rajinikanth and Ghajini (2005).

With over 75 films spanning Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, Nayanthara has shone in both commercial entertainers and critically acclaimed women-centric roles like Aramm (2017), Kolamaavu Kokila (2018), and Imaikkaa Nodigal (2018). Her pan-Indian breakthrough came with Jawan (2023) alongside Shah Rukh Khan, proving her star power in Bollywood. She also co-founded Rowdy Pictures with husband Vignesh Shivan.

In 2026, Nayanthara is set for an action-packed year. Key releases include the much-awaited Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups (with Yash, now eyeing a June global release), Patriot (April 23, alongside Mammootty and Mohanlal), the romantic Hi with Kavin (April), Mookuthi Amman 2, Dear Students, and Mannangatti: Since 1960. She has also signed a high-profile action drama opposite Salman Khan, directed by Vamshi Paidipally.

At 41, Nayanthara’s diverse slate across languages and genres cements her status as an inspiration for balancing stardom, motherhood, and bold choices.
