The famous Khairatabad Ganesh, one of Hyderabad’s biggest attractions during Ganesh Chaturthi, was immersed in Hussain Sagar Lake on Saturday with grandeur and devotion. Standing tall at 69 feet, the idol captured the attention of lakhs of devotees who gathered along Necklace Road to witness the final journey. The sight of the massive idol being taken through the streets created a spiritual and festive atmosphere across the city.

The Sobha Yatra, or the final procession, began early in the morning at 7:44 AM. Thousands of devotees lined up to have a last darshan of Lord Ganesha before immersion. The idol passed through prominent city landmarks such as the Telangana Secretariat, Ambedkar Statue, and Martyr’s Memorial, making the journey even more special. By 1:04 PM, as per tradition, the immersion was successfully completed in the Hussain Sagar.

To give perspective, the Khairatabad Ganesh idol was taller than the well-known Buddha statue situated in the middle of the same lake, which is 58 feet in height. This made the sight even more awe-inspiring for the devotees.

The Telangana police made elaborate arrangements for the event. The entire Necklace Road and nearby routes were blocked to ensure smooth procession and safety. With thousands of devotees flocking to see the idol, strict traffic restrictions and barricades were placed. Thanks to the well-coordinated security, the Sobha Yatra went ahead peacefully without any major hurdles.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also joined the devotees during the procession. His presence added significance to the event and boosted the festive spirit.

Every year, the Khairatabad Ganesh idol becomes a symbol of devotion, unity, and celebration. This year too, the immersion was not just a religious ritual but also a moment of pride for Hyderabad, where tradition meets grandeur in a spectacular way.
