Born on April 5, 1993, in Chennai, Kalyani is the daughter of renowned director Priyadarshan and actress Lissy. She began her career as an assistant production designer before stepping in front of the camera. She made her acting debut in 2017 with the Telugu film Hello opposite Akhil Akkineni, earning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South.

Kalyani expanded her horizons with Tamil cinema through Hero (2019) and Maanaadu (2021), and entered Malayalam with Varane Avashyamund (2020). She delivered memorable performances in hits like Chitralahari, Hridayam, Bro Daddy, Thallumaala, and the blockbuster Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra (2025) — where she became India’s first female superhero in Malayalam cinema and the first Malayalam actress to cross ₹200-300 crore at the box office.

Currently riding high on success, Kalyani has several exciting projects lined up. She is shooting a women-centric Tamil film (tentatively Production 7) directed by debutant Thiraviyam SN. Her upcoming releases include Genie and Vaan in Tamil, and she is all set for Lokah Chapter 2. She is also reportedly entering Bollywood with the zombie thriller Pralay opposite Ranveer Singh, set to begin shooting in 2026.
