Jonita is a well-known playback singer. She gave her voice to Telugu hits like “Ma Ma Mahesha” and “Evo Evo Kalale.” Also this Canadian singer is famous for songs like The Breakup Song from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Lagdi Hai Thaai from Simran. She recently spoke about the struggles she faced after moving to India. In a conversation, she shared that some people judged her because of her foreign background. She said, “People thought because main bahar ki hoon, I’m a little extra down. They thought, ‘Oh, she’s cute, she’s a foreigner. Firang hai toh easy hai.’”

Jonita also revealed how some early experiences shocked her. She explained, “I think in the first couple of weeks when I came to India, I got a message. I just wanted to meet for networking. At that time, one or two of my YouTube covers had already gone viral—that’s why he knew who I was and how I looked, and so he was interested. I was chilling with my mum and he said, ‘Hey, do you wanna catch up?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’m with my mum right now, tell us where to come.’ He said, ‘Oops.’ He wanted me to come alone.” She added that such assumptions did not last long, but they left an impact on her journey.
