Dangal – Starring Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, this 2016 film is based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters. The movie was directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Aamir Khan. Fatima Sana Shaikh played the role of Geeta Phogat, delivering a stunning performance that earned her unexpected popularity. It can be said that this single film completely changed her fortune. The movie, released in 2016, grossed over ₹2,000 crore at the Indian box office, setting a record as the highest-grossing film in India at the time.

Even though nearly 10 years have passed since its release, no film has been able to break this record. In fact, Pushpa 2, featuring Sukumar and Allu Arjun, came close but managed only around ₹1,800 crore, still falling short of Dangal’s record. With this one film, Fatima Sana Shaikh achieved pan-India recognition. While continuing to act in movies, she has also faced criticism for discussing various topics on social media.
