Chandrika Ravi Is Queen Of This Land

Australian–Indian actress Chandrika Ravi recently shared a beautiful photo on Instagram, where she is seen posing by the fishing boats in Mumbai. The picture, posted by Chandrika Ravi and Ishanzaka shows her sitting on a colourful boat, dressed in a bright pink traditional dress. The sunlit background, the fishing nets, and the busy boats make the moment look raw and real. In the caption, Chandrika simply wrote, “of this land.”

Born in Melbourne to Tamil and Malayalee parents, Chandrika is also a dancer, producer, and activist. However, behind her success lies a long list of battles that she faced with strength.

Chandrika married at a young age, but the relationship ended in a divorce while she was living in Los Angeles. She shared that the experience was extremely painful and confusing. According to her, divorce felt like a loss that shook her emotionally. She explained that if the separation had happened later in life, she might have struggled even more. Being young gave her the energy to rebuild herself.

At that time, she worried whether Indian film industries would accept her story. She kept her divorce private for years, fearing judgment. But she eventually realised she had to keep moving forward. In less than a year, she signed her first Tamil film. Since then, she has acted in around ten films.

Just six months after her divorce, Chandrika received another shocking news—she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She immediately informed her parents in Australia, who were heartbroken and worried. What made it even harder was that Chandrika’s grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer in the same week.

Her parents pleaded with her to return to Australia for treatment. Even though they lived far away, their emotional support gave Chandrika the courage to fight. She says she felt like she was battling on every side of her life, but she refused to give up.
